Itinerary

Ghana, West Africa - Educational Tour

Day 1 – Departure from the USA to Ghana: Your exciting journey begins as you depart from JFK, New York to Ghana. Be sure to check your itinerary for flight details and information.

Day 2 – Arrival in Accra: Upon arrival in Accra, Ghana, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our local representative and transferred to your hotel. Take a moment to refresh and enjoy a welcome drink. Later in the morning, gather for a brief orientation and currency exchange. In the afternoon, embark on a city tour of Accra, including visits to the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, Art Center, and Bazaar. The day concludes with a welcome dinner shared with your group. Overnight at the hotel. (Dinner included)

Day 3 – Exploring Accra: Start your day with a delicious breakfast, followed by a visit to the WEB DuBois Center, The National Museum, the University of Ghana, and the Cultural Center. Take time to shop at the Artist Alliance Gallery. Rest and relax at the Shangri-La Hotel. (Breakfast and dinner included)

Day 4 – Aburi Botanical Gardens: After breakfast, depart for the Aburi Botanical Gardens, established in 1890 as a research station and convalescent home. Discover the cultural and medicinal significance of the garden’s trees, enjoy lunch, and explore the Aburi Craft Bazaar. Spend your afternoon at leisure. Return to Shangri-La for the night. (Breakfast and dinner included)

Day 5 – Cape Coast Adventure: Today’s journey takes you to Cape Coast in the Central Region. Explore the Cape Coast Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that played a pivotal role in the transatlantic slave trade. At Kakum Nature Park, experience a thrilling canopy walkway suspended 100 feet above the ground, offering panoramic rainforest views. Marvel at the diverse wildlife and birds that call this region home. Overnight at Elmina Beach Resort. (Breakfast and dinner included)

Day 6 – School Visit and Naming Ceremony: After breakfast, visit St Peter’s School in Shama, followed by a return to Cape Coast for a traditional African naming ceremony. Immerse yourself in the rich local culture and traditions. Overnight at Elmina Beach Resort. (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included)

Day 7 – Journey to Kumasi: Depart for Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region, after breakfast. Explore the Asantehene’s Palace Museum (Manhyia) and visit the wood-carving village of Ahwiaa. Rest and unwind at the Golden Tulip Hotel. (Breakfast and dinner included)

Day 8 – Kente and Adinkra: Enjoy a breakfast followed by visits to Bonwire, renowned for Kente cloth, and Ntonso, famous for Adinkra cloth. Discover the craftsmanship and cultural significance of these textiles. Overnight at Golden Tulip Hotel. (Breakfast and dinner included)

Day 9 – Farewell to Kumasi: Following breakfast, depart for Accra and enjoy a leisurely day. Indulge in last-minute shopping and prepare to bid farewell to your fellow travelers. Experience lively drumming and dancing performances before joining the group for a heartfelt farewell dinner. Spend your final night at Shangri-La Hotel. (Breakfast and dinner included)

Day 10 – Return to the USA: After an early breakfast, depart from Accra for your journey back to the USA. Refer to your flight itinerary for detailed information. (Breakfast included)
